Kevin Holland, a brother from the L.A. Church of Christ spoke to our congregation during a Sunday service three weeks ago. His lesson was on how to grow from our challenges. One challenge which plagued me most of my childhood was growing up with a disability. As a result, I was never pushed to do much; therefore, I never believed in myself.

"I have seen the Lord" She Proclaimed - Women's Devotional
Tonight, the Portland Church is going to host our very first online Women's Devotional. This event is open to anyone and everyone who is interested in learning more about Jesus. Together we will be studying about Jesus through the eyes of Mary the Magdalene, a follower of Jesus who traveled with him and followed him all the way to the cross and beyond.
Week of Devotion: She SEES It All
Tonight we will focus on the power of Jesus’ love to sustain us and inspire us to get through the hard times. Because of his love Mary was able to cling to him through the dark hours of suffering and dying on the cross and all the way to the resurrection. Join us as we listen to an interview between Lisa Johnson and McKenzie Brewster on this topic.
Week of Devotion: Jesus SEES Her
This evening is our first night of the Week of Devotion; a mini-series of encouraging devotionals that lead our minds and hearts into this important weekend of Good Friday and Easter. This first lesson is an incredible discussion on Jesus and Mary Magdalene as we notice how deeply he sees her, and how he doesn't let how others see her affect his love and affection for her. We are not invisible to him. He sees the real us and helps us become who we were always meant to be. Speakers: Lisa Johnson and Beth Brewster
Sunday Service - Apr 5th "A Peaceful Communion - with Doug Arthur"
We had a lovely Zoom Meeting gathering this morning where we all got together and focused on what Communion truly means and how it should affect us. In this video, you hear thoughts from Anthonee Georgette and his Household, Garrison Palmer, and a special message from Doug Arthur from the Boston Church of Christ.
Sunday Service - Mar 29th "What's it going to take to get through this?"
Facing the unknown is incredibly challenging and it often brings out the best and worst in our faith. What does it really take to stand courageous amidst difficult times? To answer this question, Lisa Johnson brings us to the book of Daniel as we inspect Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's struggle against Nebuchadnezzar. Join us as we draw incredible parallels between the struggles these three men of God faced as they stood with God and how we can do the same in our most difficult of times.
Sunday Service - Mar 22nd "Life and Lepers"
Facing our Fears Through Faith
Thoughts on Hebrews 2:1-4
“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
Hebrews 2:1-4
Jubilee Then, Now and Forever: Part 1
What is Jubilee, and how is this ancient tradition supposed to affect us today as followers of Christ? Join us in this three-part series as we discover what God wants us to learn about him through this celebration of Rebirth and Renewal through scripture.
In this episode, Steve Johnson will be giving us the foundations of what this celebration would have meant to ancient Jews reading Levitical law. We will also hear about how this tradition so tightly links itself to our glorification of Jesus Christ in the New Testament.
Attitudes
Philippians 2:5-11 says something like, "You must have the same attitude that Jesus had. Though he was God, he didn't think equality with God was something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges and took the humble position of a slave; born human, appeared in human form. And he humbled himself in obedience to God even when that obedience meant a criminal’s death on a cross.

Books by Dr. Timothy Sumerlin with Disciples InMotion
Last weekend we had the pleasure of listening Dr. Timothy Sumerlin speak with us about Disciples InMotion and what taking care of Mental Health looks like amongst a body of believers. Being a member of our fellowship in Denver, he knows of the stigmas mental health carries throughout our nation. Below are some of the resources Dr. Sumerlin encourages us to read to further our conversations about personal health and wellness, and how we can be there for those we love.
Lisa Johnson's Mutuality
Mutuality is a Bible-based conviction that further transforms the church into the image of Christ. After years of serving in the ministry, my ambition is to foster a discussion that will tear down barriers that divide us; barriers that already serve as unnecessary obstacles to thousands if not millions of people who need to know Jesus. This is vitally important, not just for women or for singles or marrieds, but for every disciple passionate about bringing the love of Jesus to the world. Partnership without hierarchy creates strength. The incredible potential of a community of believers, unconstrained by scriptural misunderstandings, has unlimited power.
