Kevin Holland, a brother from the L.A. Church of Christ spoke to our congregation during a Sunday service three weeks ago. His lesson was on how to grow from our challenges. One challenge which plagued me most of my childhood was growing up with a disability. As a result, I was never pushed to do much; therefore, I never believed in myself.
I'm also excited that in a week, Lord willing, Kevin Holland will be our guest. He gave a message "I Can't Breathe" which I'll be sharing all week and hope we can all pray and think ... soul search... as we try day to day to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
In case you missed it, this was the first Sunday we were able to live stream simultaneously on both our webiste, Youtube, and Facebook! Feel free to join us on any of those platforms on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm or Sundays at 10:30 pm and we’ll be there to greet you and have a wonderful time of fellowship!
Here is today’s lesson in case you want to watch it or re-watch it!
This evening we get to sit down with biblical teacher Michael Burns as we have some deep conversations about race, culture, and how that impacts our church lives and walking with God. What is the difference between feeling welcomed at church and feeling at home? Find out in this episode of the Brother Show!
Join us for an online communion as we hear from Speech and Yolanda Thomas. Today we will hear all about their journey and how they came from Yoruba to Christ. Why is it important to meet people where they are at, and what does it really mean to have a peace that transcends all understanding?
This is our Easter Sunday in April of 2020 as our city remains on a Stay at Home order due to COVID-19. We hope you all are encouraged by our service, despite the technical difficulties we encountered with our live when we went live on Facebook. We love you all. HE IS RISEN!
Tonight, the Portland Church is going to host our very first online Women's Devotional. This event is open to anyone and everyone who is interested in learning more about Jesus. Together we will be studying about Jesus through the eyes of Mary the Magdalene, a follower of Jesus who traveled with him and followed him all the way to the cross and beyond.
Tonight we will focus on the power of Jesus’ love to sustain us and inspire us to get through the hard times. Because of his love Mary was able to cling to him through the dark hours of suffering and dying on the cross and all the way to the resurrection. Join us as we listen to an interview between Lisa Johnson and McKenzie Brewster on this topic.
This evening is our first night of the Week of Devotion; a mini-series of encouraging devotionals that lead our minds and hearts into this important weekend of Good Friday and Easter. This first lesson is an incredible discussion on Jesus and Mary Magdalene as we notice how deeply he sees her, and how he doesn't let how others see her affect his love and affection for her. We are not invisible to him. He sees the real us and helps us become who we were always meant to be. Speakers: Lisa Johnson and Beth Brewster

Wow, what an incredible weekend we had. So much learning, so much hope, and so much fellowship. We are so encouraged to have ended this workshop with 326 registrations! Each live workshop session had 90-100 viewers (across multiple platforms), and the videos are continually being watched and rewatched around the world! We had participants from New York to Los Angeles, and even some from across the Globe! What a special occasion to come together and learn about black history in America and how this history affects us all.
