Like all of you, Lisa Johnson and I and the elders, all of us - have been thinking and praying about how to respond at this moment to the Coronavirus as it might affect so many others. We feel in line with the 'love not fear' message being shared by the CDC, especially addressing young people to take precautions so as not to spread the virus.
At this moment I'm only asking for special prayers for us today as we gather more information and make a decision on how we can best contribute to limiting the spread of something that could hurt so many. My understanding is that the best way to prevent the virus from spreading to those who it will affect thee most, is by encouraging potential carriers to limit their contact with others.
With that in mind, even though Portland has yet to become a hot zone like Seattle, or even San Francisco, we need some divine type wisdom on even the simplest of ideas regarding meeting together. We will be people of faith, but like Paul said, gotta have the love and hope in there, too. And whatever we do will be motivated by love and not fear, so please pray that our decisions, no matter how little a contribution we may make, will be inspired by the Lord and help many.
God bless.
