"All The Feels" Book Review

“All the Feels” by Elizabeth Laing Thompson

“All the Feels” by Elizabeth Laing Thompson

In honor of Women’s History Month, I wanted to review a book by one of my favorite female authors. I recently finished a book club for the latest book by Elizabeth Laing Thompson entitled “All The Feels.”

In my personal experience, it can feel like my emotions take over at times and get the best (and worst!) of me.

I thoroughly enjoyed how well she connected scriptures to her own personal life experiences. It felt more like we were having a conversation than me reading her book. It helps that I know her!

She has questions throughout each chapter, as well as at the end of each chapter, to help deeply probe your heart as you process emotions in a way that honors God. On her website, she also has a discussion guide for small groups. I found it very helpful to read it with others, especially hearing from those who have different feeling styles than I do. Elizabeth classifies feelers into 3 main categories: big feelers, steady feelers, and reluctant feelers, each with their own sets of strengths (I definitely appreciated that re-shaping of my mind to learn that expressing my emotions can be seen as a strength!) and challenges. I discovered that I’m a steady feeler after taking her “What type of feeler are you?” quiz, which is found on her website LizzyLife.com.

She has also written 2 other books, “When God Says Go” and “When God Says Wait.” They are excellent additions for your bookshelf, and she has accompanying Bible app reading plans for all 3 books. The reading plans can be found here:
