Coronavirus Update for PCOC: Officially Canceling March 22nd Service

Coronavirus Update for PCOC

a message from Steve Johnson

Like all of you we're listening to the requests of our government and health officials, taking our cues from them as we continue to seek first God's kingdom. Everyone is being strongly urged and in some places mandated to not meet in large groups, and in Oregon that's dropped from 25 to 10 in just the last day or so.

With that in mind, we're confirming that we will not have a congregational service this coming Sunday. We will use live-stream to share messages, and anything else that is possible. Please stay in touch with us through our website of Facebook pages.

By now I'm sure you've found a host of churches doing the same. There's a whole lot of good stuff being shared online and I'm appreciative of so many of you sharing so many good services with me, too. Make the most of this opportunity to get 'filled up' with good news from around the world.

So, again, we'll not be congregating this Sunday, but we do encourage all of you to stay in touch with us and one another as we navigate this truly weird and unprecedented time in our lives.

We are encouraging everyone to use their own judgement as to whether or not meeting in groups of 10 or less for bible talks and house churches is acceptable. Talk among yourselves, and with your leaders certainly, but in the end, we urge you to use your own judgement and know that we all are facing this experience for the first time and need to assume the best of intentions from one another.

I've been reading Psalm 46 today, and 1 Thessalonians 5, and will share some thoughts via live-stream. Point one, God is our fortress. Point two, we can give strength to one another. While many people have many different ideas about which level of concern disciples should have at this moment, I'm confident that the CDC is filled with people who are much smarter than I, and who are dealing with pathogens and scenarios non-stop. No one should feel confident going against their advice. I'd urge anyone to refrain from advising anybody in a manner different from what our best experts are advising.

Let's hide in our fortress, who is the Lord. And let's consider every means we have to give each other strength. We love you all and feel your love as well. Please contact me as directly as you wish. And please let us all know if any of you are in need of anything. We can take care of each other and let our light shine. That's how Jesus said the world will know who we are.
